Andrew J. Ball
President of the Advisory Board Council
Mr. Ball serves as President / CEO of Webcor,
Inc. He has led Webcor to become one of the largest general
contractors in the nation with over $2.1 billion of construction
contracts in place as of 2006. As a leader in the construction
industry, Mr. Ball has been featured in several prestigious
publications including: Newsweek Magazine, PC Computing, The
New York Times, Business Week and the San Francisco Business
Times. He has also been quoted in Engineering News Record,
The Harvard Business Review and The Wall Street Journal. As
a San Francisco Bay Area leader, Mr. Ball has been featured
in KPIX’s “Making it in America” series,
a television program that salutes the people and companies
who develop world-class technology and quality goods and services
in the Bay Area..
Mr. Ball has transformed Webcor into a technology
leader in the construction industry. He has created strategic
alliances with technology companies allowing Webcor to utilize
advanced technology to create an environment of efficiency
that is unparalled by any other contractor. By speaking to
a variety of educational groups, including the Center for
Integrated Facilities Engineers at Stanford, the Stanford
University Department of Civil Engineering, the UC Berkeley
research group Center for Built Environment, Forbes-sponsored
conferences and the BPI Construction Super Conference, Mr.
Ball continually promotes the advancements of construction
technology.
Throughout his 30 years of construction experience,
Mr. Ball has played key roles in the construction of many
high tech campuses, including the LucasArts’ Letterman
Digital Arts Center which consists of four office buildings
with 16” high raised access flooring throughout for
a total of 1.6 million square feet; the Oracle World Headquarters
which includes six office buildings, a fitness center, a conference
center, four parking structures and substation for a total
of 3 million square feet; and the Electronic Arts Campus with
4 buildings, an auditorium and two parking structures for
a total of 1 million square feet. On the Electronic Arts project,
Mr. Ball was a member of the development team as well as the
leader of the construction efforts. Mr. Ball has also worked
on multiple projects for many other high tech companies, including
Siebel Systems, Symantec Corp., Sun Microsystems, Sony, Hitachi
Ltd. and Palm Inc.
Currently, Mr. Ball is on the Executive Board
of the San Francisco Center for Economic Development and the
Executive Board of the Bay Area Council, serving as the chair
of its Educational Workforce committee. He is also a professional
member of the Building Industry Conference Board, a nonprofit
construction industry organization which educates its members
on new technologies for the industry. In 1999, the BICB designated
Andy Ball and Webcor Builders as their Contractor of the Year.
Mr. Ball is also a member of CORENET Global, an International
Association of Corporate Real Estate Professionals, and was
honored as the CORENET Global Service Provider of the Year
for 2002.
Mr. Ball firmly believes that the definition
of success includes community involvement and support. He
is personally and professionally active in many charitable
organizations and received the Katrina Wollenberg Outstanding
Volunteer Award in 2001 for his and the company’s efforts
on behalf of Rebuilding Together, a nationwide program that
renovates the homes, schools and camps of local, disadvantaged
recipients. In addition, because of his contributions to local
scouting and to the community at large, Mr. Ball received
the Silver Beaver Award from the San Francisco Bay Area Council
Boy Scouts of America in 2001, the highest honor that can
be bestowed upon an individual by a Scout Council. |
